Description :
The Adcom GFA 5800 is unlike most amplifiers as it uses only MOSFETs in the signal path. It is designed by Nelson Pass who designed other brands of amplifiers like Threshold and Passlabs. Besides the well reviewed Adcom GFA-555, Nelson Pass had called the GFA 5800 that he designed the best sounding amp Adcom ever made. In the GFA 5800, there are no bipolar transistors anywhere. It also simplifies the signal path by using only three gain stages. It has most of the detail and sweetness of high-end tube amplifiers, and the power, control, deep bass and flat treble response of solid state amplifiers. The Adcom GFA 5800 is high current and powerful enough to drive any 4 ohm speakers with ease to deliver audiophile sound and ultra-reliable performance.

The Adcom GFA 5800 delivers a sense of realism that is usually only found in high-end amplifiers. It is marvelous at extracting and parsing the details that would normally have been too blended into the background to matter. Incredibly detailed, lush sound with excellent grip and control, it can properly reproduce the top-end air without becoming the least bit fatiguing. Bass will become especially dynamic and less distorted. It offers a silky smooth mid and treble range that is as articulate as one could hope for without its becoming forward and "sizzly" on the top, and a combination of cleanness and smoothness through the midrange. It exhibits a good amount of dynamic range and very precise beats and rhythms that some amplifiers with a lesser degree of control have a hard time with. Acoustic music, especially brass instruments and strings, sounds very compelling and lifelike. Vocals and guitar have a very smooth and easy quality without a loss of detail. Unfortunately, it is also very honest to the music and does not cover the shortcomings of poorly recorded music well. The Adcom GFA 5800 is clear and very compelling on good recordings, but terrible on poorly recorded music.
